SAMPLE OF ACTIVITIES

Our experience spans a range of sectors and activity types. The sample activities below are provided to give a sense of scope and expertise.

PROJECT: Pacific Islands Energy

Jeremy provided expertise to a Pacific Islands state-owned electricity company to support the conversion to renewable energy. Once the company had completed its geotech analysis to identify viable options, Jeremy then undertook a commercial analysis to determine the most cost-effective option. He used levelised cost of energy calculations to identify the most cost-effective options and advised on wider strategy associated with the proposed changes.

PROJECT: Business Recovery

Jeremy was appointed Managing director of a boutique publishing company during a difficult period. He worked with the team to reassess the company's position, where it wanted to be, what structure would best get them there and helped to implement the plan.

During the process the team redesigned the management and governance reporting, introduced new financial, operational, and sales management systems and became better aligned with customers and their needs.

At the end, the business was tracking at the highest sales and profitability levels it had achieved for many years.

PROJECT: Turnaround

Jeremy was appointed as CEO of a 27-year-old business after the departure of the founding CEO. The business was ready to take the next leap - and over the six years of Jeremy's leadership, the team took revenues from $35M to almost $90M annual turnover, staff numbers went from 40 to 180 people and retained earnings increased more than tenfold.

During this period, the business won awards for excellence in strategy and planning, employer of the year, a supreme business award, and a first place in the Charities Commission Tier 1 reporting awards.

PROJECT: Conference Speaker

One: The sector was facing significant changes across multiple dimensions. Jeremy was asked to present at the annual conference on leadership and strategy in complex change environments. We recognised that the attendees were all leaders in their own right - so the presentation focused on understanding and making sense of the environment/context in which they were applying their leadership skills. In this way they could truly lead - not just do leadership stuff.

Two: An industry association conference. Business Performance Team presented a two-and-a-half-hour interactive workshop for 100 delegates. The focus was on critically analysing the internal and external environments to set a strong context for developing strategy and applying leadership skills. Part of the message was that there is no point investing in leadership skills if you don't understand the environment or the organisation's maturity stage - different environments and different stages require different leadership perspectives and skills.

PROJECT: Transformation Support

The founder/owner of a c$100M company felt the need to move on and pass ownership, governance and leadership to his employees. BPT's role is to anticipate potential effects and sticking points around leadership, governance, and culture. And to suggest and implement strategies to mitigate or avoid these issues.

PROJECT: Strategic Alignment

The organisation was heading into a major government driven industry shake up and paradigm shift. Jeremy's job was to gain a deep understanding of the changes and the process by which they would be developed and implemented, and then connect the organisation with the center of the decision making. The project involved industry and government advocacy at ministerial, departmental and agency levels. At the same time, in partnership with the board and leadership team, translate the emerging environment into business strategy and implement the strategy and the organisational change processes. The project was a success with internal changes implemented seamlessly and the Minister even saying that the final design was inspired by the model the team had developed.
